Silver linings
Patrick got a call from his HR girl, and she let him know that she had decided to apply his vacation time (which he had requested to use) to December, rather than to use them now, in January. We didn't even know this was possible, so he asked her why she did that. She said that by back-dating the vacation time, it will show he was "working" in December, and therefore he'll receive his quarterly commission income, in addition to the vacation time income! If she had just applied the vacation time to January...he wouldn't have gotten that. So yay for her! We'll get that check at the end of the month.
Patrick preliminarily did our taxes today. He has a few more (small) things to add in (and he "guesstimated" them off of last years taxes just for today's purposes), and it looks like we'll be getting some back.
And it seems like such a small thing, but we didn't have Girl Scouts last night. I had worked from 8a-4p already, and I still had to work til 6pm, and THEN I thought we then had a GS meeting from 6-8. (I have cramps from hell, and Patrick had had his tooth pulled...and all I wanted to do was come home and go to bed.) My friend Paula came to pick up her daughter at 4, and I mentioned that I'd see her later. She asked why, so I said "at GS." She said, our meeting isn't until next week! I was so relieved that I literally hugged her. So that alone made me feel a ton better, and then my boss asked me if I'd like to go home early, to check on Patrick. (She got a hug too, lol.)
